We run lots of extra fun activities as well as lessons, here is your guide to what they are All events are suitable for all riders over 4years old, unless it states otherwise. If you normally have a helper in lessons you will be given a helper for the event. All events are designed for you to give it a go.

    Own A Pony Day
Come to the stables for the day, groom your pony, learn about getting it ready to ride, look after its stable, 1 riding lesson, a field hack and a further fun session (jumping, games or fun riding – depending on ability) You have a workbook to complete and get a certificate of attendance.

    Lead Rein Hacks
Rides around our fields for ½ an hour, all riders are led by a person on foot, walking & trotting only. A good starter for doing riding outside of the arena

    Hacks
A ride around the farm fields and local bridleways, walk, trot and canter, depending on your ability. You are accompanied by members of staff on horses. These are not suitable for lead rein riders.

    Pony club
2 hours of pony fun and learning, a bit like brownies, you have your own pony club ponies to look after, and keep scrapbooks of your work and achievements; you can also do badges and rider tests. Classroom based with some riding time – this is not a substitute for regular lessons but a good add on. You have to join the Pony Club but can attend sessions to suit, as long as you have booked in. All Pony Club sessions are fully supervised by adult staff with CRB checks.

    Dressage competition
Our tests are all low level including our own special lead rein tests. The tests only require you to ride like you do in a lesson but on your own instead of in a group. These are super opportunities to develop what you do in lessons as individual riders and give a high sense of achievement. Learn a dressage test – you need a week to do this, come and warm up your pony and then do the test in the arena to score points. Rosettes for all prize winners.

    Jumping lessons
An hour’s lesson, which includes warming up your pony, and then teaches you about going over poles and low jumps. Suitable for independent riders only unless otherwise specified.

    Mini show
Collect a schedule (list of classes & entry form) choose your pony (first come first served basis), come and get it ready then take part in competitions for best groomed, best turned out horse & rider, dressage tests, mini jumping classes, riding. All classes suitable for all levels of rider, leaders & helpers available if you would normally ride with help. These are fun have a go events with rosettes for prize winners
    .
    Pony school / summer camp
Combine all the above over 3 or 4 consecutive days giving you a fantastic chance to improve and develop your skills. These are learning camps with workbooks, homework and reports on what you have done at the end of the week. The final afternoon is a mini show with a BBQ lunch and prizes at the end for the best stable best groomed most improved rider and much more. You get the chance to ride on our small cross country course and have photos to take home. If you choose a sleep over camp you stay in a dormitory in Emy’s house complete with shower. All food and drink provided. We also do camps for our adult riders.

Association of British Riding Schools Tests
    Keep track of your progress.
It is sometimes difficult to know whether you are improving and getting better especially as riding does not fit into set terms of learning.
These tests are designed to give you a chance to show what you have learnt. They are marked by your instructors and you get certificates for each test (these are issued from the head office and may take time to come through)
The tests do require some knowledge of your pony care and riding equipment as well as riding.
